THE WAR ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Cole Rainey     01/16/2019

--Human trafficking is under attack in The United States.

President Trump recently signed the 'Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act' which was authored by New Jersey Republican representative Chris Smith. As reported by CNA, the bill “authorizes $430 million to be spent over the next four ears to help combat sex and labor trafficking both in the United States and abroad. This is Smith’s fifth anti-trafficking bill to become law.”

The war on sex trafficking has commenced, as the American people are waking up to the sick reality that human beings are bought and sold on the black market. The United States made its stance clear on slavery during the civil war. Human life is greatly valued by American society, and trafficking is an attack on innocent life.

President Trump's administration has initiated an all out war on human trafficking. WND reported, “The first 18 months of the Trump presidency saw a 743 percent increase in arrests of traffickers over the first two years of Barack Obama’s first term. Under Trump’s helm, 9,200 individuals were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking in 18 months. Under Obama, 1,238 were arrested for trafficking during his first two years. During eight years in office, Obama’s administration made only 42 more arrests for human trafficking than Trump’s administration made in his first 18 months.” President Obama failed the innocent with his lack of focus on the issue of human trafficking.

The American people spoke in 2016 and elected a man willing to take on this evil. President Trump has stated, “We will not rest until we eradicate this evil."  The time has come to eradicate this despicable act from America, and President Trump is the general of the war on human trafficking.

Human trafficking is a major source of income for gangs and criminals. AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program disclosed, “Sex trafficking in and out of the United States has historically been big business. The trafficking of persons across the U.S. border for prostitution is estimated to be the third most significant source of revenue for organized crime syndicates, following the sale of drugs and firearms. All of this profit potential has proven to be a powerful motivator for both organized crime and small independent organizations alike to engage in the sex trafficking of persons.” Traffickers are motivated by greed and lust. Those who engage in trafficking have no conscious, no moral compass. These types of individuals who prey on the innocent deserve the death penalty.

Victims of trafficking are stripped of their God given right to be free and are often stripped of their lives. Like President Trump said, “As a Nation, we cherish and uphold the notion that all people are created with inherent dignity and entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Human trafficking and enslavement robs victims of these God-given endowments.” Thus justice ought to be served, and those responsible need to be held accountable.

President Trump has made great strides toward the end of human trafficking in America. In February 2017, he signed an executive order to ‘Dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations that Traffic and Exploit People’. Also in April 2018 he signed the 'Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017' which makes it easier to to take legal action against individuals who use websites to facilitate sex trafficking, helping victims seek justice against the websites that profit from their exploitation. It also clarifies that those who benefit from knowingly assisting, supporting, or facilitating an act of sex trafficking are in violation of Federal law. To bring attention to the issue President Trump made January the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. President Trump is adamant on fighting and ultimately ending human trafficking in the US.

The wall will deter human trafficking. The U.S. State Department estimates that 14,500 to 17,500, or in some cases as many as 19,000, foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States each year. The U.S. State Department (2005) estimated that “70 percent of all sex trafficked persons are trafficked from Mexico to the U.S., 50 percent of which are minors who are trafficked for prostitution.” A barrier along the southern border would funnel human traffickers to ports of entry where they would be vetted and detected by Border Patrol.

The southern border is vulnerable to human smuggling as there are hundreds of miles of unattended land in which traffickers, drug smugglers and criminals can gain easy access to the US. A wall or barrier would reduce the frequency of trafficking into the US through Mexico.

Democrats fail to address and recognize the issue of trafficking as it goes against their open borders & Agenda 21 policy positions. The wall is not unnecessary or immoral as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer say. The wall is both moral and necessary to fight trafficking along our southern border.

The demise of human trafficking is on the horizon. The end of suffering and pain for thousands of innocents has come. Through a series of legislative actions and executive decisions the President has initiated the war on trafficking. Pedophiles, slave owners and criminals alike are frightened by the federal government’s crackdown on trafficking. Our culture is not conducive with slavery. Innocent communities, families and lives are destroyed by human trafficking and this injustice is coming to an end.

The American people have put their trust in the President to end human trafficking and he is delivering. The situation at the southern border has more to do with traffickers than anti-Mexican sentiment like the left will suggest. A wall would deter traffickers and drastically reduce the frequency of trafficking across the southern border. President Trump is defending the innocent, protecting the vulnerable. He has done what President Obama failed to do, protect victims of slavery.

The war on human trafficking has gone nuclear, as we have a bulldog in the white house willing to put it all on the line for the sake of innocent American lives.
